If you want a farrier who is always on time, kind, patient, trims and balances their hooves to perfection. Plus has knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the lower limb and teaches you and your equines every visit. Martin Godwin should be your farrier as he has been my farrier for 13+ years for my Clydesdales, mini ponies, mini donkeys and mammoth donkeys.
Boot Fitting
The right boot should be fit for purpose.
There are a variety of horse boots that serve different purposes. The need for a boot should be properly identified before we select the right boot for your horse. Matching colours to the bridle come later.
Different types of boots may:
- aid rehabilitation for horses that have chronic or acute problems with their hooves;
- provide abrasion resistance for horses who travel long distances but have excellent hoof condition (for example competitive endurance horses); or
- provide substitute padding for horses that suffer tissue deficiencies in order to have a properly functional hoof.
When selecting a boot for your horse I take into account these three main factors as well as its purpose for use. Other factors I’ll consider are:
- the type of horse it is;
- the type of hooves presented;
- the horses’ discipline;
- the capabilities of the rider to work with the boots (fitting on/off);
- the environment in which it rides; and
- any research or boot preferences you may already have.
As part of my service, I determine the size and style of the boot and can handle the ordering upon request. I’ll fit the new boots to your horse to ensure they are fit for purpose.
I am an independent boot fitter and an endorsed fitter for Easycare and Scoot Boots. I will consider other brands that I have used in the past such as Renegade and Fusion boots.
